A rainy day sailing from Dunkirk had us hiding away from the open decks.

Not a great deal to see until the first sight of the White Cliffs of Dover.

Still a little rainy …

And then the rain stopped, and sunshine welcomed us back to life in a busy port … and England.

No rain in Blighty?!

Correct! Nor all this week, apparently.

Seems like a hundred years since I arrived in England on a ferry. Welcome home. Sounds like you have had a wonderful adventure.

We did. Both Spain and France were a real boost at the moment. I love a short ferry journey. That’s the nearest you’ll ever get me to a cruise.

Gosh, I can’t remember the last time we did a Channel ferry crossing! These days it’s either Eurostar or flight. Your photos really take me back 🙂

With a car, Eurostar is just too expensive. Anyway, a boat trip seems like part of the holiday in a way that sitting in a tunnel isn’t.

Oh yes, if I were taking a car I would use the ferry – but we never do take the car!

We only ever did a cross channel once, to Zeebrugge. Freezing fog when we got there. No recollection of the return trip. Welcome home 🏡 ❤️

We lived in Dover for a while, up on top, near to the castle!

Not quite everywhere! I missed out on the Far East and America!

Possibly a tad late to rectify that, but you deserve a medal.

Thank you. Is there a cash award with that?

Not from me, sadly.

How wonderful to be greeted by sunshine! You were lucky though, we seem to have got our fair share of rain in the UK recently.

What time? We were on the just-after-ten-in-the-morning. We’re you on a French holiday? Sorry I haven’t been following you lately. Down time in Spain and France has not been conducive to blog-following and I decided not even to try.

Welcome home! Love those cliffs. Photographed them a couple of years ago. Beautiful.

They are magnificent, especially approached by sea.

Always a thrill to see the white cliffs, whether it’s by sea or air.

Yes, they are special, if a bit grubby looking, close up.

I remember the first time I saw the Cliffs of Dover from the water. So exciting!

Come rain or shine the White Cliffs are quite a sight. I like the addition of the raindrops on the porthole. Looks like you made the crossing at a good time and missed all the recent antics – you know the problems that are apparently nothing to do with Brexit. 🙄

Brexit? What could possibly go wrong? Yes, the White Cliffs are definitely Alright.
