On the eleventh day of Christmas my true love sent to me –
Eleven pipers piping.
So soon after Hogmanay, there’s only one kind of piper who will fit the bill.

Such a contemplative look on the drummer’s face!

Contemplative? Bored? We shall never know

I was thinking that the drummer was looking a little doubtful. A bum note, perhaps?

Don’t tell anyone. I think they’re all bum notes.

Solo piper plaintive, evocative, memorable. Eleven pipers piping, not for me even on the eleventh day.

I’m sure there are 12? Fortunately not all piping at the same time. I hope.

I can’t get anything past you. Though I can only count 11…

5 in the header photo (though maybe you’re not counting the one with his back to us 😂 ) and the 7 individuals

Ah. I think I wasn’t sure that the guy facing the other way had his pipes with him.

Yup. Definitely got the bag under his arm, unless it is a haggis of course…

We agree that bagpipes seem to be the first fit. Here is my take:

I’m with Jude in counting twelve! I love to hear the bagpipes, when played well. These guys look like they know what they’re doing 🙂

Numeracy was never my strong suit, so I’m probably guilty as charged. Yep, they were pretty good. But …

Northumberland pipes are better I think.

So I’m picking up that you don’t like our Scottish pipes? Shocked, I tell you. Mind you, i could see them far enough before the Championships when some have been known to use the playing fields at the end of our road for practicing. It’s nicer, as i often do, to hear a solitary piper as i walk through the park.it usually means a wedding.

Solitary is good, in the right place. It’s not that I dislike them really, I just don’t actively seek them out.
