Two of my three children and their families are down with Covid and their Christmas plans are in disarray. Our third child’s partner is newly arrived from Spain with some horrible lurgie that’s not Covid. The car is hors de combat in a public-transport-lite village. In some ways, this Christmas is more taxing than last. But on the bright side, each branch of the family is together with their own part of the clan, and on the way up from their illnesses: the car – unexpectedly -comes back today: and we’ve had so much practical and unasked for help from thoughtful friends. We’re all going to hunker down and jolly well enjoy ourselves anyway.
And I hope you can too, whether you’re having the Christmas you’d planned for or not. Thank you, all of you, for taking the time to read my posts, and for so often commenting. You are what makes blogging an enjoyable part of my daily round.
Hope things keep turning for the better, Margaret!
Having a great great Christmas!

I hope you have a wonderful Christmas Margaret, despite all those spanners thrown into the works! We’re keeping our fingers crossed that we stay Covid-free until the big day so we can visit my nephew and spend Christmas with my sister and her family 🤞🤞

Oh yes, please all stay Covid free, and have an excellent time with your family. As we plan to.

Hunkering is good. And, fingers crossed is good too. Hope you manage to stay healthy over the hols. Not surprised about ‘the Covid’ as my daughter in London doesn’t know anybody who hasn’t got Omicron at the moment. Keep on hunkering. 😉

Yes, it suddenly really is everywhere. But hunkering is good. Is that your plan too? But enjoy your plans for Christmas, whatever they are.

Oh no! Despite your looking on the bright side, I’m sorry you’ve been dealing with quite a few challenges, and that Christmas plans are up in the air, when we’ve all been fondly imagining you all having a wonderful time. At least things seem to be looking up. Thanks for taking time to update us and for the good wishes – wishing all the very best to you and yours & a speedy, full recovery for the ones who are afflicted.

I especially appreciated your title: “ Despite everything….” because I automatically finished the sentence with “we are still in good spirits.” British Columbia, Canada has introduced new more stringent restrictions that have changed all of our plans. I just finished a phone call with my 91-year-old mother, Frances, who said that we can still feel the spirit of this festive season virtually. She said that her Christmas present to her children was to hunker down, stay home and keep safe. Thank you for a wonderful 2021 year of following your blog. I look forward to entering 2022 together. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Wishing all a swift return to health! It seems we are in our second year of wishing each other a Merry Christmas despite upheaval and best laid plans, etc. In some ways, I welcome the chance to refocus on the basics . . . on the other hand, I look forward to another year when we’ll celebrate better health and lots of visits and hugs all the way around! Until then, wishing you wellness, peace, and a quietly merry Christmastide!

Ah Margaret, there have been so many challenges this Christmas for all of us. Covid stymied our plans too, for what was always going to be a toughie anyway. Hopefully you all managed to enjoy yourselves as best you could in your respective huddles and hopefully those who were ill are on the road to recovery x
