All along the backwater, Through the rushes tall, Ducks are a-dabbling, Up tails all! Kenneth Grahame: The Wind in the Willows
These are not the best pictures of shelducks that you’ll ever see, but there’s a limit to what zooming can do. I’ll turn to Wikimedia Commons to help me out.

Your bottoms up are accompanied by such a lovely quote not sure anyone will notice their minor imperfections. Great squares 😀

Up-tail ducks always make me smile. I’m afraid the Wind in the Willows was a book I detested. I have no idea why, maybe I just couldn’t accept animals talking. But I did believe in fairies. Do I detect from Jo’s comment that the bairn has arrived?

Yes. A girl, Anaïs, yesterday afternoon. All well and only 4 days late. And in due course, she will read Wind in The Willows and jolly well love it, as I did. I make an exception for talking animals when it’s that book, or Winnie the Pooh.

Not great pictures really – I know that. But they fitted the brief! And yes, the poem is fun.

Some delightfully cheery shots. There’s something amusing about ducks. Up tails all for swans doesn’t quite cut the mustard does it?

Dear me no. Most undignified.

I’m so glad you included your images this week. What a beautiful duck and poem. If you share, you are a winner! You know we don’t’ judge the quality here and not all photos have to be great! Remember my Flamingo from months ago. Terrible but it was a life bird so I shared! Glad to see you back! 🙂

I also remember that poem well and grew up with Wind in the Willows. I never thought about liking it or not liking it – it was just there – part of my childhood.
Congrats on the granddaughter – I so hope it will be possible for you to meet her before too long …
