In the garden is a pond. And in the pond there are some fish. We live near the River Ure. So near our home, some hungry herons live….
Back at Christmas time, William and family gave us a trail camera, wildlife-filming-for-the-use-of, mainly at night. This week, we decided to site it near the pond, to see if a Hungry Heron would visit. One did …..

This post is in response to the Ragtag Daily Prompt. Let’s let them introduce themselves: ‘RDP was started by a ragtag collection of bloggers who weren’t ready to give up on the Daily Prompt when Word Press was. So, seven of us agreed to provide a prompt once a week, and we began on June 1, 2018.’ Good luck, Ragtag! This is the kind of party I’d like to join.
I’m glad you found the Ragtag Community, Margaret. That is a great photo of the heron.

And I’m glad too. The heron was in the right place at the right time.

Great picture! Mind you, our garden had grown so wild whilst we were on holiday that I think I’d probably capture wildebeest if I’d got a similar gadget.

We’ll lend it to you if you ask nicely, and send us the wildebeest pictures 😉

Wonderful…what a treasure. Must be fascinating to see the visitors. Crime/Springwatch next?

Hmm. I think we’ll have to do better than that.

That’s so cool! And so close–you wouldn’t want to get that close to a real heron (although, now that I say that, I remember my mother used to let one walk onto her sun porch in Florida and fed it hot dogs . . . .)

Hot dogs, eh? Whatever next!

Nice photo! We get herons on our pond but I’ve never yet managed a picture of one.

We think so. Our landlords, whose pond it is, not so much.

Naughty heron caught in the act, but they are just such amazing, intriguing birds. For me it’s almost worth having a pond stocked with fish just to entice them down!

Definitely. It’s not our shout though. We are tenants.
