Continuing my From Dirty to Clean theme with windows, here are some to hang your washing from. All but one are from Spain. The odd one out is our very own washing line. Which one though?

PS. British Readers for the use of. I’m very taken by an app I’ve come across. It’s called The Washing Line Index. Supply it with your post code or allow it to use your location, and it will tell you how wise it would be to hang your washing out today. How likely is it to rain? How warm will it be? How hard will the wind blow? It’s brilliant, ad free and … free. As a confirmed hanger-out-of-washing-in-nearly-all-circumstances, I love it.
Lovely selection! I miss Andrew’s washing lines from his trips abroad.

Oh Sheree, so do I! He ought to revisit some of them.

That app is a good tip, I’ll be looking at that. Clever idea!

I read about it last week. I’m glad I did.

Oh, what a great selection, most appropriate as you are a ‘hanger out of washing ‘ in most circumstances!

I believe your washing is the last! We hang our laundry, too! There is nothing fresher than a shirt or pant hung out to dry. I was gong to put some shirts out yesterday, but I remembered we were in for some rain. Hung them to dry in the basement, but it is not the same.

Well guessed, Clay. And yes, those shirts will lack that lovely fresh smell, even though they’ll be quite clean.

Drying our washing outside on the line is the best! Very lucky to be able to most of the year in my part of the world.

You’d be amazed how often I insist on managing it!

The last line must be yours, though I suspect the items hanging from it are not yours personally!

Dead right. Our neighbours’ washing!

I’ll listen to the wisdom of the crowds. I’m pretty sure the last one is yours.
I don’t need an app in my part of the world. It rains between June and September. It never rains in other months

You’re right in your guess, and yes, a washing app would do very badly in your part of the world.

I always loved the laundry hanging from the windows, or balcony or across the streets.

THIS IS A STARK REMINDER OF MY CHILDHOOD WHEN I COULD, FROM GRAMMAR SCHOOL PLAY YARD, SEE MY MOM ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE BLOCK WE LIVED ON HANGING WASH ON A LINE FROM THE SECOND STORY FLAT WE LIVED IN IN NEW JERSEY. EVEN WHEN WE HAD WASHERS AND DRYERS I STILL HNG OUT WAS ON THE WASHLINE AND MY NEIGHBOR TOLD ME ‘YOU HAVE THE FRESHEST LAUNDRY’ SINCE IT WAS IN THE SUN AND SLEEPING ON THE SHEETS THE FRESH SMELL WAS STILL THERE.

I always love to photograph washing hanging in places such as Italy or Spain – great idea for a post! The last one is of course yours 🙂

They leave washing out overnight? I try not to xx

They’re all on balconies, so I don’t think theft is an option. Oh, you mean our dark washing line! It was winter. You can’t always get washing in before nightfall if you’ve been out for the day! xx

Great theme you found there.

My favourite is the penultimate shot. Such a tasteful arrangement of colours! Perhaps you caught them on a good day.

What a brilliant app recommendation! As a fellow dedicated outdoor-drier, checking weather forecasts for laundry windows is an art form. Plus, balcony laundry scenes always add so much vibrant character to architectural photos. Great post, Margaret! 🧺☀️

Oh thanks! Delighted to ‘meet’ another outdoor-drier fan. Nothing like it, is there?

Absolutely nothing beats the fresh smell of line-dried clothes! 🧺☀️ It’s one of life’s simple pleasures. So lovely to connect with a fellow outdoor-drying enthusiast! Have a wonderful week ahead, Margaret!

I agree with Anabel. And an App for hanging out washing? Whatever next?
LikeLiked by 1 person
It’s brilliant, really as a means of summing up the weather actually rather better and more succinctly than the various weather forecasting services do.

Well now I know that I’ll be able to put the washing out tomorrow and indulge in a leisurely lunch confident in the knowledge I won’t get home to a soggy mess!. Luckily I don’t have to download yet another app to get the forecast – it works via the browser.

Excellent! I’m not actually a big app user, but this one DID appeal.

That brought me ol’ memories of my childhood days. All our laundry was dried in the sun. Great photos. And I missed the correct answer for your line.

The dark washing line is in our courtyard, though these clothes belong to our neighbour.

I think my daughter was told off once for putting washing to dry on her balcony, different places.

We once were in that position. I nearly moved forthwith!

We have a similar rule at our apartment building which I don’t mind as there’s always one person who will go totally overboard and hang everything out to dry. We have clothes lines out the back of the building.

Lucky you! Clothes lines ’round the back ‘of flats are unusual here,

How clever to apply the weather forecast to the specifics of hanging out the washing! We only line dry our washing outside unless there is a very protracted rainy spell. I follow several weather apps/forecasts as I tend to worry about rain or the lack of it, and not only so as to try to predict the good washing/drying days!

Indeed! We do like to know what to expect, don’t we?
