And … I’m just back from Spain. Unremitting daily temperatures of ‘feels like 42’ have made child-minding duties a bit on the testing side, and waterside fun has been our friend. The never-ending sun routine seems – finally – to be taking a break, both here in the UK and in Spain. This photo taken the other day, pool-side, is perhaps a foretaste of the next week or so?

From Pyrenees to Pennines 
That’s a dramatic sky. We had a message from our friends near Huesca saying they could no longer smell smoke which was a relief. We’ve finally had rain here after little or nothing since early June.

Thank goodness our part of Spain has – so far – been fire-free. But nevertheless tinder-dry. Both Spain and the UK now seem to have real expectations of rain. Thank goodness.
