We’re back in England after our three weeks with the Spanish branch of the family. Identikit weather, in Spain, travelling back through France and here in the UK. Wet. Rather cold.
As my last two photos of the month show. Here we are driving through France …

That’s a shot from my phone. My camera tells a similar story. Our last afternoon in France was in Caen, where it was largely … raining. As the sun set, the rain went briefly away, so here’s sundown over a street busy with its late-in-the-day market.

For Brian’s Last on the Card.

Bless you, how miserable! It’s been changeable here. Lots of wet stuff but some lovely sunny spells too… and rainbows! Take care, darlin xx

Lucky you with some sunny spells! Some diluted ones here in North West. I hear coldest winter in 10 years in Aracena.

Ditto Catalonia. Here in Yorkshire it’s probably not as cold as this time of year can be. Just so dank.

Thanks Jo. No incentive to get out into the fresh air just now, that’s for sure. xx

I don’t envy you the drive home. Glad you got there safely. Rest and recuperate now.

Ha! Rest? Back to Busy Things. Yep, never doing that drive again.

Nah. Not going to happen, is it?

What wonderful, if not gloomy, photos. I love the view in Caen and driving in that weather is miserable.
Thanks for joining in Margaret 😀

Hmm. Happy for the journey to be over. I was happy in Spain too so … bittersweet.

Welcome home, Margaret. That is a long drive and looks dismal.

It was. Not for us any more (it never was my thing, in truth).

After last year’s mild and relatively dry January, this year’s has been decidedly wet.

I’ve never known a January quite like the one we’ve just experienced. Just … unremitting.

Wall to wall dreary😟 I don’t much like this time of year

I can enjoy a ‘proper’ winter, crisp and cold. But dreary like this is, well, dreary indeed.

Shall I mention the very different weather in Sri Lanka right now? No, I thought not! I have to say my eye was immediately drawn to the Le Storage sign and Union Jack 😀

Please don’t mention any good weather that you may be enjoying Tactless. Though I’m pleased for you. Spotting shop signs in any variety of English whilst abroad, the more mis-spelled and inappropriate the better is one of our hobbies!

One of ours too, and I suspect we may see some good ones here!

Rain rain upon cities and the lane. How was your family time? Exhausting but satisfying shepherding the little ones?

Yes, the weather and other factors such as public transport being in disarray following those two awful train crashes, and bouts of illness for all of us meant we were very much home-based. But we were able to help keep the show on the road and do lots with the children (ever tried getting a Spanish child to school on time??) so we enjoyed it, despite its not being at all what was planned.

Hope no one your family knows was in the terrible train crashes. What a shock. I don’t know about getting Spanish children to school on time but I have challenges with my own! Glad you are home safely and have had time with the Catalan grandchildren.

Luckily for us, we weren’t personally affected by the train crashes. But they made a big impression, and understandably. Yes, we’ve had fun with the family – thanks.

That looks like a taxing journey – glad you are home safe and hopefully over all bugs.

It WAS taxing. Not doing it again. Malcolm’s now on full-strenth antibiotics. That’ll sort the bugs out!
