Postcards from the Vegetable Patch

I thought it only right to send a postcard or two from the vegetable garden we’re tending in its owners’ absence, though very brisk winds make any photography difficult. Anyway, you’ve popped through the gate in the featured photo. Let the gathering, watering and weeding begin!

As you leave, this cheery chappie on a tree will thank you for your efforts.

Another Shropshire postcard.

  1. You seem to have (in the owner‘s absence) an abundance of zucchini ….. if you can and may, fry the zucchini blossoms in very little good olive oil (not too hot) for just a few short moments, sprinkle some Maldon salt on them and enjoy!!!! They are divine and it looks as if the harvest of zucchini isn‘t over yet for a long time.

      1. I think he’s on his last legs. Not eating much and he has an infection and possibly a tumour. Just got to keep him going till her next door gets back 🙄🩵

  2. As Jo remarked, it does look like a full-time job. No wonder they required house sitters. You must be enjoying lots of lovely veggie meals. But if you do eat meat there are some great butchers in Shropshire and I can recommend Ludlow sausages.

      1. Of course. Now that you say that, it reminds me of the gate that was supposed to keep Peter Rabbit out of Mr. McGregor’s garden. A story from my childhood, many decades ago.
