      3. It’s on my list to visit but we don’t often drive over that way though we recently visited Lyon and have been to Macon a couple of times. And, you’re correct there are so many fabulous places in France to visit.

  5. We planned twice to visit Dijon – and had to cancel! Once I was ill and the 2nd time we had a funeral of a family member. It‘s still there though and not too far for us to visit…. It is a beautiful city – and for now I still prefer Lyon (where I was several times. A place I could easily live in. Macon is great too. Apart from that, I prefer the ‚100 most beautiful villages of France‘ type places. Or whole regions…. God really meant well when He created France. You wanna hear the ‚true story‘ of How France became the France we know now? Tell me – maybe you know the story already

    1. I don’t know the story already. Do tell! We must visit Macon – you’re not the only one to recommend it. The thing wehave against The100 Most Beautiful Villages of France is that they have become tourist traps with little soul. I feel sorry for the inhabitants. We prefer discovering the 101st and 102nd!

      1. It was in the time God created Earth. He did good deeds here and there. At the end, He was left with one country to create, France. He said to Himself: This will be my best creation ever. He gave them hills, alps, rivers, lakes, wineyards, treasures in and out of the earth, woods and all the goodies he still had. Then He said: Now look, what I created. Isn‘t it gorgeous? Everybody said: But why, God, did You spoil this place so? It gets it all, all the treasures, all the beauty, all the nature, it‘s just not fair.
        And God said: You‘re right. And He created the French…
        Would you believe that every time I told this story to French friends, they LOVED it and said: It IS TRUE…..

        We bought 100 mbv when the book was absolutely unknown and made some fabulous discoveries. Don‘t want to know how it is NOW.
