Warm Barcelona

I haven’t done the Lens Artist Challenge for weeks, what with the busyness of being a granny to the latest granddaughter near Barcelona. But this week, Egidio proposes Warm Colours.

Well, Barcelona is warm at the moment. Here is a photo I snatched on 26th January – January! – of a young girl perfectly adequately dressed for the season.

And of course the weather is not what this challenge is necessarily about. But maybe a bit of fun played out against a hotel wall painted a vibrant shade of coral, on a balmy winter’s day, will not be too much of a cop-out.

Here are vignettes of three snippets of lives lived on the balcony of Hotel Catalonia Catedral, near – of course – the cathedral in Barcelona.

And here is a scene from our bedroom, taken at the beginning – or the end – of the day. Which? Only you can decide.

  1. I only was once in Barcelona, in a terribly hot July with our French (singing) ensemble. I saw and took photos of these balconies too but mostly we tried to make it through the week without dying of heat. And at the end of the week we gave 3 concerts, cladded in white from head to toes. Had to buy extra shoes because even they were soaked…. Now that I think of it, January sounds just about right for another visit!

  2. I saw on the news that Catalonia was in severe drought with unusually high January temperatures. Heavens knows what it will be like in June! I suspect from the location you were in that last photo is of a sunrise?

  3. Let me try again… It appears my first response got lost. If this is a duplicate, please delete it. I don’t see my comments.

I really loved your post, especially because you picked one single location to illustrate warm colors there. Barcelona is so captivating. Your photos show Barcelona’s warm colors in beautiful photos and scenes. The hotel figures are very intriguing and captivating. As for your hotel room view, whether it’s a sunrise or sunset, gets a back seat to the beauty of the view. It must have been great to see that every day. If I were to guess, I’d say it was a sunset.

Thanks for entering the challenge with such beautiful photos.

  4. We were in Barcelona longer ago than I care to admit Margaret – thanks for the lovely reminder of a beautiful city. Ah to be young and able to look like that on a balmy, warm day LOL! Loved your weather interpretation.
