Just before they disappear irrevocably from view this year, let’s have a few late butterflies to cheer up this chilly Monday morning.

I hope they cheered you, as they did me.

They did, indeed, although the gorgeous splashes of Virginia creeper around here have been doing a pretty good job with that, already!

So you did! (copy Jude) And very prettily too.

Lovely, butterfly friendly dahlias. Good to see the Painted Lady as none of those have visited us here this year.

Yup, a bit rare here too.

These photos are not from yesterday, but there are some still around.

There seem to be so many anomalies this year, both in plants and in insects!

Precisely what’s needed on a Monday morning with our government almost in free fall and other gloomy news from around the world.

Head-in-sand time, I think.

Haha… lovely! I haven’t seen a single Painted Lady here this year. In fact it must be about three years ago that I last saw them. Life would be sad without butterflies.

It would. But I have definitely seen – a few – Painted Ladies.

So many butterflies in my WP feed today – these are lovely examples 🙂 I haven’t seen any around here for days.

Sadly, it’s been a rough year for butterflies.

We had a lot at one point but not for very long 😦

Yes, it’s been very patchy.

Beautiful pictures. This year wasn’t all too good for butterflies up here in Scotland. Some varieties seem to have thrived, but I can name at least three usually common types of butterfly that I didn’t see at all.

Don’t kid yourself that it was any better here. Rather dismal in fact.

That’s not good news.

Beautiful post with those gorgeous butterflies. I see the yellow ones are dahlias 😀

They are indeed Cee. From a country house near here.

I also noticed the passion flower in bloom. I’m surprised it can grow there.

Yes, you don’t see them often.

We are celebrating Thanksgiving Day in Canada today. So many thanks for this lovely post. I am reminded of the quote by Robert A Heinlein: “Butterflies are self propelled flowers.” I may have missed some of your posts recently, due to travel, but will be catching up soon.

I thought you’d been silent. A lovely quote – and I hope your travels have been all you hoped for. Happy Thanksgiving!

How nice of the lovely butterflies to pose long enough to be photographed on the equally lovely flowers! Definitely a cheering post.
