Last month, I introduced Lake Prespa, which has shores in Albania, North Macedonia and Greece. I told various tales, and there are more to come. But I haven’t given you the chance simply to enjoy it, as we did, in the early morning and evening, as the sun arrived and departed.

Most of these photos were taken on or near the island of Agios Achillios.
For Debbie’s Six Word Saturday …
… and Hammad Rais’ Weekend Sky

What an idyllic spot.

Beautiful. These photos would make a fabulous calendar. Every one of them exudes calm and a deep sense of peace.

I’m glad that comes over, Sandra. I so valued those quiet moments there. Well, not that quiet. Birdsong- nightingales by the dozen!

Birdsong is a part of the quiet for me. I read recently how nightingale numbers are falling dramatically. What a privilege to have enjoyed their song as you did. An orchestra of nightingales!

It was a privilege. I’d never knowingly heard nightingales in the UK, so to have them all day and every day was quite something.

There is no better time than time by the lake shore, or any body of water, to sit and just be. Peace.

Of course, you have that experience during your vacations. Yes, I think lakes offer a more peaceful experience even than the seaside.

Wonderful shots. Enjoyed “being there” by the lake.

What a fantastic variation of light, shade, sun, cloud, reflections. I love the low down shot through the grasses (7th).

Thanks Peter. That’s one of my favourites too. I should have included shots with night herons and other wildlife. Maybe another time …

A lake with a different country on three sides. Marvellous. Looks serene?

It looks serene because … it is. No big towns at its edge, few tourists. Plenty of room for wildlife. Perfect.

Truly lovely and such a peaceful scene. I love the one with the clouds. I’m in a cloud sort of mood at the moment. Fluffy white ones if you are asking… ☁⛅🌥

We can do couds just now. Unfortunately tinged with grey. We were luckier with the weather there.

The serenity (nicely captured) of this landscape continues despite human tragedies along the way.

I suspect this particular area may have remained a bit of a backwater for much of its history: it’s kind of off the main drag.

Beautiful. My favourite is the second with the hills. You’ve made it look as if you can walk/jump along to the hilly island, although I dare say you would have to be a giant in real life.

You would . The only island that’s reachable on foot is the one in the first photo. And that’s where we were staying. And from which I took the photo you’ve chosen.
