Not being one to look back but also enjoying history and historic architecture I was torn between admiring the spirit of the people and their refusal to give in and the missed opportunity of building something new and excellent.
The thing is, I don’t see they have very much between their traditional style of building, and High-Rise Korea. The Christian community, for instance, pretty much apes European styles of church. I can’t think off -hand of any modern Korean buildings other than high-rise, though there must be some.
