By which I mean animals that have been immortalised in stone. I thought a gargoyle or two would be appropriate on a Sunday. But it turns out not one was part of a religious building. Here are gargoyles from Barcelona, Bury and Bath. Whaddya mean, dragons and frogs aren’t – strictly speaking – animals?

For Debbie’s One – er Two – Word(s) Sunday
I’m assuming that last one’s in Bath but I’m not sure where. There are elephant heads on Camden Crescent to admire

The thing is, I forgot to label it. And I don’t know the answer. I was in Bath two years ago with two fellow-bloggers and it was only my second visit to the city. I want to go again!

Those are great! I particularly like the little dragon who I don’t think is half as scary as he’s trying to look.

I love the dragon! And I’m pretty sure that frogs are animals (not mammals but definitely animals!)

I loove a gargoyle. I think the masons, now as then have a lot of free rein to ‘do their own thing’ to a large extent.

Oh I love the frogs! Bizarrely, someone has created gargoyles for a house in a regular old suburban street not far from where I live in Sydney.

These are all wonderful. I fancy that the dragon may me afraid of heights and is hanging on for dear life! And probably the ram is caught in a frozen moment of calling ‘baa’?
