Dirty Windows in Distress

Sad, maybe. But windows in as bad a state as these are always have me wondering about the tales they could tell and their history, whether humble or grand.

For these images I’ve been just down the road, as well as to farthest North Yorkshire; Leeds; London; Seville; Catalonia; Korçë in Albania. Which are which, you may wonder …?

For Ludwig’s Monday Window.

      1. They can now live on.
One day in the future, someone will be finding out all about what was there before. Their search will bring up your post and they will ecstatic at the photos.

    1. Yiup. Albanian. A lovely part of the town that in London (say) would have been restored and titivated and attracting silly money as properties changed hands. There the whole area was just …. distressed.

      1. Fair point. I was on a small group visit, exploring the natural environment, and we travelled in a minibus. We felt lucky to be ahead of the tourist curve (it was 2022 which I believe is developing fast.

  1. What is it about dereliction like this that has us reaching for our cameras?! These windows wouldn’t be considered beautiful in the usual sense of that word but your photos make them appear so, especially grouped in a gallery like this.

  2. What a marvellous set of distressed, dilapidated windows! I must dig out some of mine. As Sarah says, “What is it about dereliction like this that has us reaching for our cameras?”
