This week, PR is our host for Leanne’s Monochrome Madness, and has chosen Minimalism. Look at PR’s post on the subject to see some fine examples. I didn’t find this too easy. But I had a go.
Fog can be our friend here …

… as can dusk …

… and a flying machine to keep the lampost company. Otherwise it’s all about the natural world.

Here are a few plants that might work.

I found some peacock feathers …

… a bird or two …

… cherry blossom …

…and a solitary tree at Brimham Rocks, spotted last week.

I’ve a feeling these are only a little bit minimalist. Why don’t you have a go, and do much better? Link your post to PR and to Leanne’s post, at the links above and we’ll all come and have a look.
Difficult or no – you found some wonderful examples. I like that lamp looking towards the sea particularly. And all the others, too.

Thanks Elke. Lovely memories wrapped up with that lamp.

I’m going to choose cherry blossom.

Well, that’s a surprise! I thought blossom in mono was against your principles!

Normally, yes. But I like the composition of this. And I can pretend that the blossom is white 😂

My favourites here are the cherry blossom and the peacock feathers 🙂 And I’m pretty sure I have a photo of that same tree at Brimham! Is this it, from a slightly different angle: https://www.toonsarah-travels.blog/gallery-less-is-more-minimalism-in-photography//

Actually, it’s not, though your tree and I are well acquainted. There are two or three of these impossibly hardy trees to catch the eye at Brimham. I was pleased to find those peacock feathers in my trawl, and they translated well into mono, I thought. Thanks Sarah.

Fifth photo tells me a story. Drying wild flowers in the foreground, hay bails a little further back, an early morning mist far across a farmers field. Autumn is near.

These are wonderful Margaret, lots of minimalism to be seen here. I like the tree sticking out of the rock, but I think my favourite is the second image of the lamp post, that is stunning.

That seems to have won the prize! Everyone’s favourite, mine too. Thanks Leanne,

There’s no way I’ll do better, as well you know! I like your solitary and misty trees and those peacock feathers are… flighty! xx

You won’t do misty trees in Portugal much, I’m guessing? And yes, peacocks are empty-headed and flighty I think! xx

There were some great ones up in the Alentejo, at the Dam, but I don’t really do revisiting stuff. Or black and white, unless something grabs me xx

I’d encourage you to do a spot of revisiting, if only for your own sake. It’s lovely when you pull out older photos and the memories come flooding back!

I have boxes under the bed- a project for a rainy day but it would take weeks to do anything with them, and I’d just sit on the floor and gaze. I do revisit the old blog sometimes though xx
