Shadowed

A quick look at shadows, the enigmatic feelings of mystery they can sometimes produce.

The featured photo shows the early morning sun, somewhere near here. No mystery perhaps. More a feeling of unknown promise in the day ahead. And below, this quiet photo from Laberint d’Horta in Barcelona reminds me of a morning I spent there discovering , hidden amongst the trees, apparently ancient statuary.

Two urban photos: one from the once gritty underside of Leeds, suggesting its dirty and industrial past, the other from a up-to-the-minute quarter of Barcelona. I like the hard-to-decipher shadows on the textured overhanging roof.

And lastly, another from canal-side Leeds. Someone should write a story about this young woman sitting contemplatively beneath the shadows of the trees.

For Leanne’s Monochrome Madness

… and for John, the week’s Lens-Artists Challenge host. He’s chosen ‘Shadowed’.

  1. Off you go then! I shall expect the story in my Inbox tomorrow xx

The Leeds/Barcelona duo has me a little confused, but I suppose that’s my natural state. I like the shafts of light in the opener. Rays of hope?

    1. You’re allowed to be confused. I did this in a bit of a hurry. It’s simply two urban shots, that’s the only connection. Yes, hopeful is how I see that first shot too. YOU can write the story for the last shot! x

  2. I am on team suns rays Margaret 😀 It is a fabulous photo and works so well in Monochrome. Oh yeah, I like the other photos too. You know you shouldn’t confuse our Jo like that 😂

  3. I love that opening shot in particular, the light is beautiful! Well done on finding more shadows so soon after Becky’s month of them – I confess I opted out of even trying 😆

  4. Good morning Margaret… I have seen that top photo before – though I believe I have seen it in color. Great shadow photos. The bottom photo reminds me of when we were in London this past July and we sat beside the Thames underneath the Plane Trees. Oh, we needed that shade badly. Have a wonderful week.

  5. Bushboy said it best, I, too, am on the team loving that opening photo, and it works great in black-and-white. I’m sure it’s just as gorgeous in color. Great work for fitting into two challenges so nicely, Margaret.
