My featured photo is of the colourful (but poisonous) fly agaric. And as we all know, elves like to sit on them. I have no photos of elves, but I can do fairies.
I offer you a fairy collecting the secret wishes of children at Ripon Theatre Festival this year; another spotted on a fence; and a warning on a London front door.

Finally, here’s a genuine letter written by the tooth fairy who visits the children in our family when they lose their baby teeth. She’s a grumpy soul. She writes messages on tiny pieces of paper the size of a postage stamp and tucks them under the pillow as she leaves her silver coin. A Red Letter Day for the lucky recipient.

For Becky’s #Simply Red.
This is so cute and I still remember those magical times.

Fairies, hey? Quite rude, some of them! Gotta love a fairy with attitude (and very flexible legs). Happy Monday, Margaret xx

That letter from the tooth fairy is so cute. (until someone recognizes the hand writing!)

I can assure you nobody I know writes like that. I understand the Tooth Fairy practised a different script 😉.

How much do tooth fairies pay for a tooth nowadays? Maggie

I’ve heard it can be up to £2. it was 10p for my children, and I got 6d in old money.

I’m sure the Tooth Fairy was generous in her grumpiness! I still remember that wobbly, queasy feeling many years after losing my last baby tooth.

Oh, you’re a sensitive soul. I just wanted my 6d!

What, fly agaric? Only if you’re planning to serve dinner to one of your least favourite politicians, and abstaining yourself…

Just as well Ritva. That’s what you get round here.

The things we do for our children! £2 seems excessive. And fairies really shouldn’t be grumpy.

I’m afraid our tooth fairy was famously grumpy. That letter was one of her milder efforts.

Fairies are becoming much more assertive, don’t you think? And yes the red mushroom is a perfect home for one!

Does the tooth loser get a bonus for the 30th anniversary?

Don’t think so. Manky old teeth probably not much use.

What a lovely post! The Ripon fairy looks beautiful in that orange dress, the London sign is fun, and I love the letter from the grumpy tooth fairy 🙂 I only used to get money – like you, 6d was the going rate in our family!

I love those mushrooms despite the fact that they look so attractive, but are dangerous. In fact, I had a photo too a fee days ago. But alas, I had no fairies to go with it. 🧚♂️🧚🧚♀️

How much coin do they receive for each? I think it was a quarter when I was a child. When I proposed to young Eagle that they could receive money if they put their tooth under their pillow for the fairy, they said indignantly, “My teeth are NOT for sale!” Ha ha, so cute.
