Every Saturday, my grandson and his dad walk up the road to Mountsfield Park, arriving by 9.00 o’clock sharp, to participate in Parkrun , one of the 1,342 5km. running events taking place simultaneosly, country-wide, every week.
Here he is, running not with his dad, but with an unknown individual who gets his 5 minutes of fame by sporting a bright red T shirt, especially for Becky’s #SimplyRed.
oh my goodness they’re determined!

I know. Parkrun is clearly a matter of Life and Death.

Wow, every Saturday morning? That’s impressive. Grandies three days in a ROW! With the right card that would be a BINGO.

I know lots of people who do it weekly. And some ‘collect’ parkruns, going to as many different ones as possible. Ours here at Fountains Abbey may be The Best!

I know these happen in Leeds too… but, no- I haven’t taken part! xx

Nor me. Though walking is allowed. xx

A very intense walk Dad is having.

I don’t know if he’s anybody’s Dad. He was quite intense. My son is much more relaxed about it!

We have “parkrun” over here in Aussie. I should run, but knees won’t let me anymore 🥴

No knees are my excuse. But If I had better knees, I’d find another reason not to run😉.

Great shot, but not for me. My last running events were on the school sports field.

I never even got that far. Me and running don’t mix.

Even your grandson is valid with his red socks ❤️

That is SO COOL that they get to do a 5K together every week! Those are memories that will be kept forever. Plus it’s something active they do to keep in shape. That guy in red is way too serious. I love the boy’s red cheeks.

My grandson takes it seriously too. But not TOO seriously!

OMG the unknown male looks fierce. He takes his running seriously! Which is why parkrunners and hashers don’t really mix. There is a small overlap but not in large numbers.

Oh, to be fair, park run is just an excuse to be with mates, and maybe have breakfast together afterwards for MOST people.

It depends. At least at the German park runs there are some weirdos who take their time seriously and try for better everytime and best and all time best.

A great action shot! He looks very determined, as if he’s in a real race rather than a fun run 😀

I’m one of those people who thinks Park Run is a great idea but yet never quite gets round to doing one. Great shot though, I hope the chap was happy with his time and efforts!

I hope so too. Grandson was as ever in quest of a p.b.!

I love the generation difference in your photo. The child is hardly showing any demands on his face, whereas the man in red…

Absolutely! Mind you, my grandson – then aged 9 – is at Peak Energy Production.

Hee hee, famous red shirt. Good thing it’s not a Star Trek episode@

I thought park run was purely an adult thing. Seems I’m wrong! Could be because hell would freeze over before I took part in one so I have never bothered to check …

Chidren join in – as you see. Plus on Sundays there’s a dedicated Children’s Parkrun. No, me neither.
