A Rusty Red Bench

This rusting wreck is multi-tasking today. It’s lived a blameless and long life in the ruins of Jervaulx Abbey, offering views of the Dales and what’s left of the Abbey in the long years since Henry VIII had it made unfit for purpose during the Dissolution of the Monasteries.

Today though, it’s doing a tour of duty for Becky’s #Simply Red; for Jude’s Bench Challenge; and for Debbie’s One Word Sunday. It’s a little dishonest, as I’ve had to tinker a bit to make it Simply Red. Don’t tell the ghosts of those monks who once called this place home.

I’ve even managed a tweaked shot of part of the Abbey looking a little red too.

  1. I think there’s a fair bit of ‘cheating’ goes on around the reds. At least you didn’t magic the bench from white to red, did you? That would have been a good trick. I have quite a nice one for Jude but I didn’t see her post this morning so it’ll have to keep for tomorrow. Did you get wet yesterday or did it turn out fine? xx

    1. The rain stayed away, but the wind was a bit viscious. A bit tough on the likes of jugglers … And today I’m ‘double dipping’, in that I’m singing with my choir in the morning. In the rain. And volunteerig this afternoon. In the rain.

  2. That’s a beautiful bench, whatever its original colour! And Jo’s right, I think a few of us have tweaking to emphasise red shades 😆 It poured with rain when we tried to visit Jervaulx Abbey a few years ago, so much so that we abandoned it (and we don’t usually mind a bit of rain!) We should go back …

  3. I am certain no one is ‘seeing red’ over your little fudge. It looks great red, it seems to say, ‘sit with me, rest your feet, tell me your troubles.’ I hope your weekend was full and satisfying.
