Positively Poppies

A month of Squares has arrived, a month that will be Simply Red. I’m joining in. The world is not a happy place at the moment, so I’m aiming to stay up-beat and optimistic. And for me that means starting with that most cheerful of flowers, the poppy – here only just past Peak Poppy, but still hanging on.

Thank you, Becky, for building this cheerful world-wide community of Squarers.

  1. Corn poppies are so exhilerating somehow. You never know quite where they will pop up. In fact spotted a big clump yesterday out on the pavement on Church Street, growing vigorously in the tarmac.

  2. Margaret – you have the best challenge responses! Always innovative and thoughtfully chosen. What a beautiful way to step into Simply Red—with the cheerful resilience of the poppy. It’s a flower that always lifts the spirit, even when it’s just past its prime. I love your intention to stay up-beat and optimistic, especially in a time when that lightness feels so needed. Thank you for reminding us that beauty, however fleeting, still has the power to steady and uplift us.
