Geometry on the Road

We drove from Arras to Beaune today, having seen almost nothing of Arras, because my evening stroll yesterday in atrocious rain left me with a coat I actually had to wring out. Today was little better. In fact the vanishing point on the motorway planned as today’s contribution vanished itself in a welter of sleet, rain, fog and thoroughly English style bad weather.

Anyway, later we spotted some (sorry to be pretentious, but I genuinely can’t remember the English word) geometric éoliennes.  Here.

So that’s two squares today, and the weather improves tomorrow! We hope …

  1. Oh Margaret – this has been our weather over Christmas. The winds were so high that the ferry service on Christmas Day between the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island was cancelled. I am so proud of you walking and braving the weather!!!

  2. You’ve sent me on a linguistic search – eolienne translates as wind turbine but not quite a moulin au vent. Aeolus – Greek god of the wind. Great photos of geometric three ‘pale’ wind gods! Can’t think f the English for the three spurs! Palos / sticks in Spanish! Catalan!! At least you could see something as so big!

  3. That’s horrible driving (and walking) weather! I hope it’s improving for you – things have certainly got brighter back here in England although also much colder ❄️❄️❄️
