In the cold and wet of the last few weeks the lilac and laburnum flowers, like most things, has refused to do anything but remain tightly furled in tiny, hard little buds. This week, and almost overnight, they’ve all burst into ravishingly radiant and resplendent life.
For Becky’s #SquaresRenew.
So glorious when they all come out – hope the scent is good even in the rain!

It is. But luckily … this week we have summer. Back to rain next week, apparently.

Our lilacs were about 2 weeks earlier than we’re used to.āš¤āGrey skies and colour bursting forth – nice.āBut … is the first photo square?

My featured photos almost never are. But Becky only insists on one square per post …

I love lilac – it’s a nostalgic scent for me as we had a white lilac by the back door when I was a child and it was very easy to climb. I used to perch on a branch while reading š Hope you’re making the most of the sunshine, while it lasts?!

You bet! Next week not so good. I led a photo-op tour of Ripon for our photo club today, so that was fun.

Burgeoning blossoms. I like lilac but it doesn’t last long and is pretty boring for the rest of the year.

Agreed. Luckily, here there’s so much else around that the lilac, once its done its thing, can fade back into deserved obscurity.
