A very sunny post. I’m still pulling out the lesser celandines from my garden. Lovely as the flowers are it is quite an invasive plant. Best admired in the verges.

I know! When we lived in Sheffield, celandines were our constant uninvited guests in our garden. Pretty though. There are worse fates.

Beautiful, Margaret! We have loads of gorse and lavender here, but today the streets are awash and there’s talk of cancelling the lovely procession at Sao Bras with the carpet of flowers. Good news for the reservoirs- always a bright side! – but friends are not happy. We’ll probably be doing DIY most of the week in Leeds. Incidentally, we hope to go to the Polish restaurant in Chapel Allerton next Saturday lunchtime, before our flight home. The youngsters won’t be joining us so if you happened to be free, let me know.

I’ve a feeling we’re heading for Team Bolton, but it would be fun to meet, and it’s yonks since I’ve eaten Polish too. I’ll keep you posted – thanks!

Here we often use marsh marigold and cowslip interchangeably. I see that last photo is different than what we have here. Very beautiful, all your yellow flowers!

Really? Gosh, cowslips here wouldn’t appreciate a paddle in the water AT ALL. Strange how we have different words for the same thing.
