Autumn Colours

It’s mid October. Autumn should be well-advanced. But it isn’t. It’s hardly started. To give us a taste of what we should be enjoying just now, I’ve dipped into the archives, and have planned a walk round Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal, so you can enjoy with me the autumn colours of leaves still clinging on to the trees, leaves that have fallen, equally tawny fungi, and stags poised to battle it out to be King of a Harem, and father of the next generation of red deer .

  1. Beautiful photos that really show Autumn. I enjoyed a bit of chill after a 33C day.
The cool breeze is blowing down the mountain to cool the house tonight 🙂

  2. We made the same observation, coming back from a mountainous village, some 1000+m high. Hardly any autumn colour, just some patches of red; no stags were sighted but a white powdering 0f snow on the high mountains.

  3. Autumn colors are beautifully captured, Margaret! I love the leaves on the ground especially. We may see autumn colors in late November. 🙂

  4. It has taken a while for autumn to show its stuff and compared to previous years it’s been less than spectacular. I hope that once it gets in high gear there the colors will be worth your wait. Love that flooded Studley Royal shot.
