Three Faces? Tree Faces …

Spotted the other day in Swinton Park near Masham, through the spectral swirling leaves of an autumn afternoon, three woodland wraiths. Well, that’s what I thought they were, anyway.

Monday Portrait.

  1. Wonderful photos, Margaret, which prompted me to do some research. Do trees have personalities? Here is some thoughts that came out of my search:

Trees do indeed have personalities. Just like humans, each tree has its own unique characteristics and traits that set it apart from others. These personalities can be observed through various aspects of the tree’s appearance and behavior. For example, the shape and size of the tree’s branches, the way it sways in the wind, and even the sound it makes when leaves rustle all contribute to its distinct personality. Additionally, the tree’s growth patterns and response to environmental factors further highlight its individuality. Overall, trees possess personalities that make them fascinating and diverse beings in the natural world.

I read “The Hidden Life of Tress by Peter Wohlleben – very interesting. So now I kow that there really are “Ents.”

    1. I’ve read and enjoyed this book too. Even more fascinating, I found, was Tristan Gooley’s ‘How to Read a Tree’, which further explores, with both scientific and personal observation many of the same ideas. Thanks for your thoughtful comment.
