It’s lockdown again. Best not travel too far for our day out: we’ll whizz round North Yorkshire, and send a few postcards, old style, in black and white.

Annoyingly, I don’t seem able to label these photos, but there are clues in the tags. But – they’re all in North Yorkshire…
…except for one: here are godwits at Slimbridge:

so elegance and classical…

I really like black and white photography, strips images back and makes me really look at the details

Yes, I do too – when it’s the right image. Some work better than others – just as some B/W filters work better than others too!

Some great contrasts in this selection Margaret, the reflection in the water is fabulous and the godwits are beautifully captured. Thank you for the postcards from North Yorkshire 😁

You’re welcome! Postcards are a bit thin on the ground this year aren’t they? They were going out of fashion anyway …

I can’t remember when I last received one, but I used to always send one to my grandchildren when we were travelling. That seems a long time ago too 😊

I used to do that too. Once upon a time.

I liked the zig zag on the water best. I still send the occasional postcard, usually when I have visited an art gallery sending to a friend who lives too far away to go themselves.

That’s brilliant! I love receiving postcards, and it’s an increasingly rare treat.

Love the ziggyzaggy water and the posts, but the Slimbridge shot is very classy. I was there once. Must be about 25 years ago…. another life 🙂 🙂 You still have lovely Studley.

We do. I love volunteering there. Ensuring a weekly walk at this time of year means I’ve rally appreciated watching autumn come … and go.

Busy arranging where and when we can walk this week 🙂 🙂 Was going to be beach this morning and Rafa this afternoon. Morning will soon be gone at this rate. I’d better do some Portuguese.

Oh, I like this collection, especially the first three…and the Godwits, if they were a little lighter…..

I had a bit of a play, Sue, and I don’t know why, but it didn’t seem to work lighter. On paper, I agree with you!

Thanks Lesley. My own favourite is the reeds in front of the lake at Kiplin Hall (bottom left).

Lovely set and the teasels are a gift for black and white aren’t they? Actually, I think they are one plant form that easily looks as good if not better in monochrome.

You might be right. They’re certainly being quite statuesque and decorative just now.

So gorgeous! I used to do wordpress picture challenges. I just created a 2021 calendar all with my own birding pictures so sounds like I should join again to do a weekly challenge

They can be quite fun, and force you to look at old shots anew, There’s a list here of many of the challenge-hosts – so many, and you have to pick what’s right for you! Your calendar sounds fabulous! https://ceenphotography.com/for-the-love-of-challenges/

Thanks for the postcards Margaret – they have a lovely nostalgic quality. I also particularly like the framed view of the field and beyond.

It framed a view that, while pretty, was not spectacular. So quite a piece of luck.
