This tree was so keen to be included in Top Squares that it’s gone to the trouble of growing itself a topknot. I think it deserves its fifteen minutes of fame.

I do like it when people make an effort to come to a party. Such a nicely turned out tree, Margaret 🙂 🙂

Brilliant . . . think it might get more than 15minutes and well deserved too. I might have to ask it tips on how to create top knots

It does spoil the lovely shape somewhat, I think a trim is in need. And we all know about that at the moment!

Definitely. I told it, there are reasons why the traditional shape is so much loved. But it wouldn’t listen.

You do have some special trees up your way – but then I am guessing they are top survivors of your tough weather.

They are. And we have a lot of ancient – and I mean ancient – oaks and yew trees. I’m sure you do too.

Oh that is a great tree. When I went back to grad school at 50+ I used to ride the city bus from campus out to the commuter lot every day, and there was a tree near the married housing that kept catching my eye. And that tree was the beginning of me taking pictures of trees. One day I got out at the stop for married housing, and tried to take a picture of the tree I so loved. It was harder than it would seem. Then I walked all the way back to the commuter lot, taking pictures of trees as I went. I still look for that tree when I’m in Ann Arbor.

What a lovely story – but yes, trees can have a powerful effect, can’t they? This one got you into a particular form of photography too. Well done that tree!

An interesting spurt of growth. I wonder if the rest of the tree will catch up with it one day?

It’s quite odd, isn’t it? I don’t know whether it always had this lanky bit.
