William began his day yesterday by lining up his extensive collection of dinosaurs (thank you, Ben and Alex). Please note the previously unrecorded vaccosaurus right in the middle there.
Then we went to the Horniman Museum, as we so often do.
We had to visit the Aquarium, as we so often do.
We had to visit the new Butterfly House, so William could show it to me.
And we had to visit the new exhibition about colour, The Rainbow Revealed. Here’s William, sitting in the light tent, soothed by the calming green light that followed the vigorous energizing magenta.
Just before home time, we came upon this dinosaur. He lives out his days in the primaeval forest created in the Horniman Museum Gardens. The primaeval plants are currently protected from the winter storms by very unprimaeval plastic, which slightly spoils the effect.

What a great day for a little man!

I think we should thank the Horniman for the great day. But lively two year olds are always rewarding companions.

I think there are two previously unrecorded species in William’s collection aren’t there, the vaccosaurus and the elusive green species right next to it. Just two of the many many excitements a rising two-year old’s world holds. Or maybe he’s two already. What a lovely day!

Rising two? He’ll be three in 4 months. It was lovely. And my stay next time will include a meeting with you too. Perfect!

What a lovely day you both had! I used to love visiting the Horniman Museum! Has William seen the dinosaurs at Crystal Palace?

Apparently he has, but not with me. A treat in store? Did you know that the New York Times has just declared the Horniman one of the ten coolest museums in the world?

I had no idea the Horniman was so well thought of! The Crystal Palace dinosaurs are interesting in as far as they are very old. I think they were some of the very first large-scale models of dinosaurs and I believe they were made just after the Great Exhibition in 1852 or thereabouts.

I must get to see them then. Though the real dinosaurs might be laughing in their fossilised tombs to hear those Victorian figures described as ‘old’ 😉 !

He’s getting big! (William, not the dino . . . ) This sounds like a perfect day for a little boy and his Gran!

Light tents – so enjoyable for two and three-quarter years old and adults alike! Looks as though you had an enjoyable mid-winter, ‘chromotherapy’ experience?

Erm. Just a bit. Feeling my age today. But I wouldn’t have wanted to miss out on the day.

What an enchanting day visiting the sort of places that truly enrich the fabric of one’s childhood, and grandparent-hood too I should think.
