In August last year we were in Shrewsbury. One of the places we enjoyed visiting was Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings (it did exactly what it said, once upon a time). I wrote about it here. But I didn’t show you some of the very fine shadows we found. Here they are now:

For Becky’s NovemberShadows.
I haven’t known and seen them before. So beautiful, you captured great artistic image, subject and art. Thank you, Love, nia

Thanks so much Nia. Those shadows were just asking to be photographed.

These are so striking. The shadows thrown by the corn arrangement are particularly lovely

Thanks Susan. I thought they deserved their 5 minutes of fame.

Wonderfully shadowy. And now you’ve reminded me that we need to pay this place a visit. We’ve not been there for years.

It’s definitely worth another go. I’m sure it’s changed a lot. Shame it seems to be cafe-free at the moment.

The Farrells are rather keen on cafe-provision when it comes to outings 😉

I love shaow photos. Sometimes when I’m walking the dog her shadow will be soooo big, and other times it’s trotting along beside her just like I’m walking two dogs instead of one. Then there are the shadows on the driveway of the flowers I planted along side it. Oh…and the blue shadow of a small pine tree in the yard on the smooth white snow in winter. Shadows often make the image. I’ve found it’s the same when I’m doing watercolors. If there’s something missing from the art it’s usually that I need more darks.

Absolutely. Shadows can be fun, mysterious, surprising – all sorts of good things! Thanks Dawn.

Some great shadowy finds here, especially the corn – or is it flax???

Flax I think. It ought to be anyway!

I thought so, but I have no idea what flax looks like!

Dark and brooding once again! I think I like the colour version of the grain better than the B&W.

Interesting. I like both in this instance.

A place I know from before the renovation when it wasn’t quite so pretty.

Lovely captures, Margaret. I loved photo #4 and the abstract the shadows created on the floor.
