I thought it only right to send a postcard or two from the vegetable garden we’re tending in its owners’ absence, though very brisk winds make any photography difficult. Anyway, you’ve popped through the gate in the featured photo. Let the gathering, watering and weeding begin!

As you leave, this cheery chappie on a tree will thank you for your efforts.

Another Shropshire postcard.
Happy gardening, Margaret. The zucchini looks perfect and so does the cheery one on the tree!

It’s all good stuff. What to choose tonight is the constant dilemma.

A yummy dilemma, i would have that any day.

The benefit of house sitting is having fresh vegetables and fruit every day

You seem to have (in the owner‘s absence) an abundance of zucchini ….. if you can and may, fry the zucchini blossoms in very little good olive oil (not too hot) for just a few short moments, sprinkle some Maldon salt on them and enjoy!!!! They are divine and it looks as if the harvest of zucchini isn‘t over yet for a long time.

We are doing! And freezing the rest for them.

Despite a dire start, we now have a freezer packed with fruit. Happy to say my partner’s discovered jam-making in his retirement.

Excellent! You’ll have to revive Afternoon Tea, complete with cucumber sandwiches.

All a bit labour intensive, but that’s where you come in, Margaret. I have my hands full with the sick cat next door, whose mistress is in Seattle. Wish I was there!

What have you done to that cat now?

I think he’s on his last legs. Not eating much and he has an infection and possibly a tumour. Just got to keep him going till her next door gets back 🙄🩵

So do I Jo. All hands on deck! Sorry you have to look after a poorly cat, and possibly have bad news to give in due course,

Thank you. We do get time off for good behaviour.

As Jo remarked, it does look like a full-time job. No wonder they required house sitters. You must be enjoying lots of lovely veggie meals. But if you do eat meat there are some great butchers in Shropshire and I can recommend Ludlow sausages.

We eat a little meat from time to time. And yes, we were in Ludlow the other day and made sure to buy sausages. Not sure hpw trad they are as they have a hefty dose of chilli!

They do all sorts of sausages in Ludlow, we tried them all and never found a bad one. Chilli was one of our favourites.

It’s great, isn’t it? It’s there to keep the rabbits out.

Of course. Now that you say that, it reminds me of the gate that was supposed to keep Peter Rabbit out of Mr. McGregor’s garden. A story from my childhood, many decades ago.
