Indeed they are – at Newbiggin-by-the-Sea, Northumberland. This ‘Couple’ by Sean Henry has been standing on a platform on a breakwater gazing out at sea since about 2008. At any moment of the day you’ll be able to spot passers-by gazing at them.

For Debbie’s Six Word Saturday.
A long time since I gazed that way. Happy weekend, Margaret! Still got company? 🤗🩷

Ah, you have a different sea to gaze at! Nop, we waved goodbye to each other yesterday 😦 . Next week though is house-sitting in Shropshire for friends.

Agh, I’ve been to Newbiggin a couple times and I always find these the creepiest things ever! I think it’s the replica version on land so when I looked out to sea, I thought they’d moved…

I don’t knw about the ones on land. Yes, there is something a little creepy about them, for some reason.

They’re fun. I might have to give them a wave one day

It’s been a while since we’ve been to Newbiggin! Thanks for the reminder, maybe we’ll stop in while in Newcastle next week 😀

It’s nor the prettiest place on that coastline!

True – that’s why we haven’t been for ages! Chris’s cousin used to work there and we would drop by to see him, but that was decades ago!

Wouldn’t it be great if, one day, they were holding hands!

I would stand there and wonder; are they people, are they statues…?

You’d fervently hope they weren’t people. Pretty dicey out there …

Intriguing! Not come across these two before.

Oh, What an amazing art work. I am trying to imagine the logistics of maintenance. You always give me a great start to my day, Margaret.

It must indeed be a pretty resilient piece. It’s quite exposed out there. Thanks Rebecca!

Thats…odd. I wonder if the coast guard gets calls to rescue them.

They look as if they’re coping OK in the wind and weather.

That’s a pretty long conversation. Do they get a fresh coat every now and then? Of paint?

That I don’t know. But they do look pretty fresh and unbattered.
