That’s what the old saying says: ‘Eat breakfast like a king; lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper’. In other words, make the first meal of the day your best. And it’s easy enough with a bakery like this just down the road: easy to renew your energy and begin the day – even on Sunday!
For Becky’s #SquaresRenew.
oh so so dangerous to have somewhere like this on your doorstep. A bakery has recently opened in Bradford and I made the mistake of going in earlier this week; my purchases, despite one including a large loaf, did not last long!

It’s no longer a cheap treat, but good bread is so worth it.

I agree – I just wish I’d make it last more than 2 days!!

I would be there when they open the doors. I bet the shop smells heavenly

How did you know that I’d run out? Just had a banana for breakfast. Feeling any better?

Loads better thanks! Banana is a healthy, if unsatisfactory option.

That looks delicious! Good bread is such a treat. In Scandinavia we eat a lot of rye bread with lots of seeds. Luckily, a Danish bakery has branches in London, so I can still get my treats from home.

Scandinavian & German bread is so good! Luckily it’s getting easier to buy in the UK too. As you have found.

When I bought my flat, I said it had to be within 10 minutes of my nearest croissant

Ooooh, I can just smell that bread! But it needs to be rye or sourdough for me to eat it!

I love rye and sourdough too, but a good traditional yeasted wholemeal is also excellent.

A picture to get us bread lovers salivating although I’m lucky enough to have bakeries like this where I live.

Lucky you. We had a winner, which recently closed for health reasons. I’ve returned to making my own. Which is fine too.

The problem is that when I go to FRance I love the French food so much I eat like a king at every meal. ?)

I love bread. Good bread. But bread doesn’t always love me back. But, oh, the smell of a bakery!

Hoo boy Margaret, my pants size would definitely be growing at a clip if a place like that was within walking, or even worse, smelling distance! Looks fabulous 😊

Luckily it’s quite a step back up the hill from the shops so you get rid of a fair few calories that way!

Oh, Margaret – I can smell the aroma of freshly made bread through the WIFI. When I lived in Northern Canada in an isolated mining town, I walked about 3/4 mile to school. I looked forward to passing by our local bakery because there was always a wonderful aroma, no matter how cold it would be. And indeed, sometimes it would be -40C.
I wish I could fly over to join you!!!

That looks fabulous. None of your mass produced rubbish there!

Definitely not. And I like it that the bread is sold by weight, so every loaf has to be weighed and priced differently.

Interesting! I’ve not come across that before.

It all looks amazing. I rarely go to bakeries as I bake all our bread but when we are away I love to stop in them! Bernie

Ah, I too bake our bread these days, but a shop like this is very inviting.

Wow! Looks amazing. Mind you, I’ve been baking my own bread lately, so I don’t feel so left out when I see places like this so far from my home!

Ah,we seem to be a small dedicated band of bakers here! I do enjoy our own bread, but travelling and spotting a good baker delivers the odd new idea too.

Oh, absolutely! (Mind you, I haven’t succeeded in making any sour dough starter, but my bread baking course taught me about BIGA and POOLISH which are great substitutes!)

I once had my sourdough starter sorted, but since I put it in abeyance, I haven’t started again. Yet.

By the way, I don’t know about POOLISH.

It is exactly like BIGA but is with almost equal water and flour, instead of more flour than water.
