I had various ideas for today’s post, our last day in Angers. In the end, a late afternoon walk made my decison. A couple of shops, and a street-name sign with a commentary provided a bit of light-heartedness among the rain-dodging of the day.
First, an estate agent. Who knew that giraffes sell houses? Vaguely geometric giraffes, anyway.

Or that Harlequin was a men’s outfitter? In a niche in a very geometric building.

Or that some wag thought a modified name might work better on one city street? Said wag prints in nicely geometic lettering…

Later today, we’ll be in St. Malo for an overnight sailing to Portsmouth. Here’s hoping the scheduled wind will have dropped by then 🙄
I loved them all, Angers seem so enjoyable place, Architecture too. I make a voyage through your posts too. Thank you dear Margaret, for sharing with us. Have a nice day and travel, Love, nia

the harlequin colours seem to be a recurring theme – I like this place. I know you haven’t got the chocolate but hope you have a giraffe in your suitcase!

I like Angers’ playful sense of humour! Much calmer here this morning with no red windsock in the offing. Hope that augurs well for your crossing.

Angers repaid looking twice sometimes. Weather does wat it thinks best, but we survived anyway. Thanks.

That beautiful building’s lost its H? Funny old world! I thought you’d be using the Tunnel again. Good luck, Margaret!

Nope. Saint Malo it was, to give a different part of France a chance to get visited. It worked.

Good! Did you like St. Malo? We never quite made it there, and never will now.

We never found out. There was torrential rain virtually the wholw rime we were there, and we holed up in a bar …..

Sensible option! We did a bit of that in Tavira today… just for a little while.

Hope you have a smooth crossing. It’s still pretty breezy here. But I’m crossing my fingers for you

A lovely place! The giraffes and the Harlequin colours are wonderful and uplifting in our greyness.

And it cheered up a grey day there too.

The giraffes would look good in Arlequin too. Still extremely windy here, but it is supposed to be calmer later.

You’re right. The two shops should get together. We had a curate’s egg of a sail. Half very rough, half quite calm.

I love all of these, especially that Arlequin building and the giraffes, of course. Sail safely.

It has quite a few less-charming bits, but enough delights to keep me happy.

Ah, I see why Anger now and your route. It is an interesting place and I love the geometry you have found! We have stopped at Anger too but usually aiming for near Calais. Fair winds for your crossing and homeward stretch in UK.

Thank you. No fair winds, but we survived anyway.

I love the giraffes – they seem to have been created by the same person as the Harlequin perhaps?

Actually, up close they’re not that similar in style. The giraffes are more whimsical. Such fun, though what they have to do with selling houses in Western France I’m, not sure!

I love the colourful giraffes, they certainly brighten up a grey, wet and very windy day. Wouldn’t be in a hurry to get back to the UK if I were you. 😉
