Do you know the children’s story book My Cat likes to Hide in Boxes? My children loved it, and this morning, we learnt that the message of the story is entirely true.
Today, Reyes – in the Spanish-speaking world – the Three Kings delivered all their presents in the wee small hours (they have a magic key to get into every home), and – not a lot later – excited children were busy opening them.
And in this house, Archie proved that it’s quite true that he likes to hide in a (rectangular) box in which a present was recently contained.

What a great photo! Oh so true, cats do love boxes 😀

It seems to be a universal phenomenon. Perhaps it’s warm and cosy in there!

I don’t think I ever saw those books, but I wouldn’t dispute it, and that’s a very cute photo. Excited children in your Spanish household? Did they have you up at crack of dawn? Ah, I forgot- you’re not a sleeper!

Cats make me smile the way the squish themselves into containers. I wonder why they do that? I’d not heard the story of the boxes before.

But it’s so true. No idea why.

I knew cats loved boxes, but didn’t know about this book – I am obviously going to have to get the book, and hopefully by end of this year I will once again also have my own cats sitting in boxes

I can’t wait – going to have to wait until the autumn though as after the build I have a huge and unexpected trip to go on.

I actually have this book! A tatty copy was being thrown out at the library so I kept it. Definitely true, and paper bags do the trick too.

I always loved reading that book to children when I was a librarian, and it’s so true! I recently introduced Sue of https://catsandtrailsandgardentales.com/ to it as her cats love boxes too 🙂

I don’t think I’ve seen a big orange and black striped kitty in a box, but perhaps it needs larger boxes.

Indeed cats like boxes. So much so that we have an especially favoured box permanently in our living room!
