Geometry in the Nick

La Prison seen from the Old Town Bridge below.

It was all going (fairly) well. And now here we are, banged up in Béziers. In La Prison. Don’t worry though. We’re ok. It ceased to be a penitentiary in 1993. Now it’s an hotel. And pretty well appointed too, commanding views of the town and countryside beyond. I’m only squaring one photo. Frankly it’s a faff on the phone. But you might want to see what we’re up against.

There’s enough geometry in those prison walkways and doors to meet the theme. And if not, I’m banged up anyway. Punishment enough.

For Becky’s GeometricJanuary.

  1. It looks a bit freaky to me, Margaret, but at least it’s stopped raining. Clever you- I have no idea how you square on a phone camera. I do quite fancy seeing Beziers though. Safe onward journey!

  2. I have wondered about prison hotels. When they closed Grafton Goal I thought it would make a good hotel. I think council or the state govt has squashed anyones plans to do that.

I see my armless quip was already taken 😁

I hope you had a comfortable night. Who had the top bunk? Did you get a bucket for a toilet too 😂

    1. We didn’t eat at the Prison as it happens, but we had an excellent night thanks. And … we’ve arrived at our destination, so I may catch up with your posts – and everyone else’s – soon.

  3. Ooh – not sure about the former prison now reincarnated as a hotel!

Better though than the historic former prison in my home town that was being repurposed, and where the gallows room with trap doors still in place was being converted to a coffee shop!
