We rented a cottage on an alpaca farm in Cornwall several years ago. There’s something transfixing about them. We watched them nor doing very much for hours.

That sounds like the perfect holiday to me. Apart from not being able to read, if transfixed.

I would kill for those eyelashes…

Beauties, but have you seen them after shearing?!!!

Oh, often. We’re used to it round here.

I always feel sorry for them. They look so shocked!

Oh. That’s not occurred to me. These were happy chappies, looking for little strokes.

I mean they look shocked just after shearing, whereas sheep mostly seen relieved!

I’m enjoying your black and white photos. Alpacas. Are they the ones that spit?

Thanks. No, I think that’s llamas.

Alpacas are so cute! And their wool makes the warmest, softest socks and sweaters!

I should have grabbed a handful when they weren’t looking 😉

Yes, so soft. We have an alpaca wool festival in Wisconsin we went to one year. Such great socks!

They’re so well groomed. I’ve only seen dishevelled alpacas.

Brian said that too. English-reared alpacas try to Set a Standard apparently.

Really? I always thought alpacas were quite good on personal grooming.

Maybe they get shorn more often there

Perhaps. Dunno.

Margaret, have you ‘seen’ anything of Ruth lately? Jim was asking and I don’t recollect if she was taking time out? She usually comments at yours.

I know. It’s been bothering me too. No idea. Let me know if you hear anything please.

Will do. She’s quite a private person so I don’t like to be intrusive but I’ll try. On my way to meet Adam and ridiculously nervous xx

There’s something about alpacas, monumentally stupid or just very placid? My son and I have a theory that they have incredibly slow reaction times, 10 minutes after you have left they look startled by your presence.

Love it! I’ve had so little interaction with alpacas, I couldn’t possibly comment. Sometimes my reaction times are a bit slow too… perhaps we’re related?

Ah, me too Jo. Not just our Polish heritage then that we have in common 😉 ?

Hopefully not! They have fierce weather and potential thunderstorms this morning, so I’m glad that we had a lovely day together yesterday.

Do people comment on your lovely docile eyes and then take you for a very slow walk on a lead?

Sadly no. Where am I going wrong, I wonder?

I havn’t been enough of an alpaca observer to realise that Ruth. You’ve clearly studied them. Perhaps.

We’ve taken them for walks a couple of times. Somewhere there are photos of us all with 8 eyes staring back looking blank
