Happy day, indeed! I had an eye out for these on my walk today but didn’t spot any. I did see some overly optimistic daffodils sheltered by a wall. At least they weren’t in bud.
A pretty and welcome sight! Just to add to the North-South thing, I posted last January (or one before?) about snowdrops popping up in the churchyard. This year, some green stalks but haven’t spotted any flowers yet. Given the confusing weather and all, I think the plants are just keeping their heads down and wondering what’s going on in the world. And I can totally relate to that!
I remember dafodils blooming in February. It was the wet and cold that made it feel so chilly back in the 80’s when I lived in the UK. Of course, I was also spoiled with central heat growing up. The houses we rented while in the Air Force did not have central heat. LOL!
so very, very, very lovely. Yeah, far too early but SO beloved! We had 16°C on the 2nd of January; that’s just not normal. But hey, we enjoy what and when we can…. Happy New Year to you dear Margaret.
How lovely and definitely cheering as you begin turning thoughts towards springtime (or is it too early for that?). I like the low angle of the photo and its painterly quality,.
I had to get Down and Dirty to get that shot – increasingly hard these days. But yes, the shortest day has been and gone, so though spring is still a rather distant prospect, it’s on its way.

Not really. There are some snowdrops that flower in December, though the peak season is end Jan

About a week. I have noticed from comments in previous years that oddly, ours seem to come out earlier than those dahn sahf.

Lovely. Not sure mine will appear this year as they were growing under the tree which was removed in November.

Oh Jude, I hope they will. Some near here survived some pretty major disturbances a couple of years ago.

Early/not early so many factors variety, soil, micro climate as well as local weather, but a very, very welcome photo.

Not too early for snowdrops here – or only a few days anyway. It’s mild here, l but not surprisingly so. And a Happy New Year to you too!

We’ve had daffodils in the village that come out every year at New Year all the time I’ve lived here. Not this year. All very odd.
