We’ve been away while all the planning has been going on, so not a clue what’s happening really.

Ah, the Train à Grand Vitesse….I went on it in its first year or two in the early ‘80s – probably 1982, because my father had told me about this new high speed service in France, and it sounded most interesting.

Then funny thing is, it doesn’t feel fast when you’re on it, even though the info. board tells you you’re currently travelling at between 270 – 300 km. per hour.

It was great fun. I should have mentioned that this was a double-decker train – and we were on the top deck.

What a lovely end to the postcards, though I hope now you are home we’ll hear more about your trip.

You will in due course Jude. I haven’t downloaded the photos yet, and still suffering from jetlag, despite the lack of plane journeys!

Me too. Tran journeys are wonderful, and help acclimatise you to where you’re going instead of a big shock as you hit the tarmac!

There’s so much more to travelling by train than plane. It’s marvellous the speed and yet you still managed to get an expressive, proper photo of the countryside.
