Bittersweet indeed, so glad they made it for Christmas. Memories to cherish xx

It was wonderful, despite Emily having to work remotely (which meant we got to play) and poor Miquel being ill. xx

How fabulous you got to play 🥰 we managed to sneak in a day of play ourselves as our little one did a 24hr stay as we were leaving!!
A shame though Emily and Miquel didn’t get a chance to play too. Work and sickness not great 🤒

Ah! how quickly they grow up, leave and come back with their own and leave again. Our hearts just grow bigger and bigger until they burst with love and sadness that they have to go. 🤗

You’ve got that exactly right. But when they leave and come back with the next generation … it’s pretty good.

I don’t envy them the journey home with all that luggage and a baby. Hopefully it went off without a hitch. And although you are sad to see them go you have wonderful memories to keep.

Travelling light doesn’t apply when there’s a baby on the scene. But they got there without incident. And yes, lots of memories.

I remember traveling with children. I was always glad to get there and be there. The getting and going there was always the hardest most challenging part. Glad you and your last got to be there together. That’s always the best. Peace and happy new year.

You must have been so sad to see them leave but at least they came. It must have been very exciting!

This image says a lot, Margaret. Many luggages to carry, so are memories…
Hope you will see them again soon.

It was. But mainly sweet.

Such a pertinent image for the times. The masks and I am assuming the family leaving after a visit, not knowing when they might return.

Exactly. We weren’t able to meet our granddaughter till she was six months old, and this was only the second time we’d seen her.

That is so sad, Margaret. Hard to build a rapport when the meetings are so infrequent.

It was worth all the aggro getting there. Well, it was for us, anyway.

I know it was worth it despite the challenges and the pain of departures. We actually managed some time with all my brood here over New Year and it was lovely. Done me the power of good 😊
Happy New Year, Margaret. There will be bright spots in 2022!

Easier for me than some. A friend whose daughter and grandchild live in Canada hasn’t seen the ‘baby’ yet – and she’s now over two.

I hope your friend gets to make up for those lost years, Margaret. It is very sad.

I expect they certainly brightened your Christmas, but parting must have made the grey even greyer.

‘Fraid so … Still, it was better than their not having come at all.
