The number of shades of green in nature – especially in summer – has impressed me for a long time. I’m wanting to create a color continuum,, but I fear that task would be monumental – but you have captured a segment of it. Oh – you volunteer there! Cheers to your efforts and thanks for capturing this beauty!
Last night I thought the roof was going to blow off! I knew Cornwall was a bit wet, but no-one mentioned the gale force winds! Should have known better than to live on the top of the downs!
I’ve just immersed myself in this beautiful collection and felt the wash of peace which comes from such a special place. One day I’ll visit for real but in the meantime, this has been a real tonic.
These are great, Margaret! The 4th one really stands out, it reminds me of a painting you might see in an art museum, aesthetic, balanced and extremely atmospheric!
I really like the way you have used the leaves to frame the views of the abbey, and the mossy roots of the grand tree in the first photo are gorgeous. What a wonderful place for a wander.
What stunning pictures, what a beautiful place to walk in, you are fortunate.

I am. And as a regular volunteer there, I get to see in minute detail the seasons as they change there, which has been a real joy in lockdown.

Oh, stormy with you today? It was with us yesterday. Do you know, I can’t find any non-natural greens. I can’t believe it, but …

Good. Maybe when restrictions ease, you might manage it on one of your visits north to see your son? We could go together!

These are lovely Margaret. For me, Fountains Abbey will forever be associated with Alan Bennett’s The History Boys (the movie anyway).

I actually haven’t seen the film. I’ll have to look it out. But it gets itself onto quite a few film sets, though usually suitably disguised.
