‘How wonderful yellow is. It stands for the sun’

Blogging challenges, England, India, Spain

At the moment, we all need the glow, the zing that a good splash of yellow can provide. Luckily, Jude has provided the perfect opportunity for us to hunt down all our yellow-rich images, in her challenge Life in Colour. Let’s have an injection of gutsy, vibrant lemon, amber and gold alongside our long awaited Covid vaccines.

I’d thought of showing those springtime flowers we all love – aconites, daffodils, primrose, tulips and kingcups. But maybe I’ll save those for another day. Here’s a complete hotch-potch of yellows to cheer up a day which, here at least is thoroughly and dismally grey.

To view any image full size. just click on it. The quotation of the post title is by Vincent Van Gogh. No wonder he liked sunflowers. And the header photo shows one word from another quotation. Wander round the St. Paul’s area of London and you’ll eventually uncover the whole sentence, from Virginia Woolf’s novel, Jacob’s Room: ‘What are you going to meet if you turn this corner?‘ What indeed? In this area of London, enough to fill an entire guide book.

  1. Painted, Margaret? I just scuttled upstairs to record the most magnificent rainbow and was dazzled by the glow off the sea. Strange, hazy mist… the sun will be out fully later, I think. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

      1. He’s grown up a bit now. He’s hit that all-gangly leg stage now … and of course I only know that from video … 😦 We’re all in the same boat, I know.

  3. What is wonderful! As is that quote. And how very nice of William to wear a matching yellow coat. It’s wonderful how many people are digging out their yellows to share. Leaves a lovely warm glow.

    1. Yes, your Colours Challenge has really hit the spot, hasn’t it? Thanks – it’s a fun one at a time when brain-power (speaking personally) is at a low ebb. It’s surprising how many yellow-clad people complement yellow shots. I had some in my reject pile too.

  4. It started sunny for once in London today but now it’s grey and gloomy again, so your dose of sunny yellow is very welcome! I love the Virginia Woolf quote at St Pauls, so thanks in particular for including that one πŸ™‚

  5. Painted yellow looking fabulous in hotter countries not quite so much in our light. The muted gold of ‘What’ working well on an overcast London day especially in your lively photo topped off with the majestic St Paul’s.

      1. Oh sure! I’d be glad to share but you aren’t going to want what we’ve got coming the next 4 days. A low is going to stall right over Northern Florida. Today was our last bit of sunshine until Monday or Tuesday. πŸ™‚

  6. Definitely cheering (especially when its minus 3!). I like the quote from Vincent van Gogh. Glad to here you’ve had the jab. Here the programme has not started yet, but hopefully the first stage to vaccinate healthcare workers will start in a week or two.
