  9. How curious – I wonder where it came from? Hope all is well – my dad (in Harrogate) says the wind is coming from the east from tomorrow and it’s expected to be very cold so hope you stay warm!

      1. We were over during the so called “Beast from the East” in 2018 in early March – it was freezing and so dangerous on the streets as it was so icy. We were staying at first with our daughter in north west London and the canal at Little Venice was all frozen over. I hope my dad will stay indoors – I’d be so worried if he went out in case he had a fall. Stay safe and warm!

  16. Nah, I don’t think that’s a clock, I reckon it’s an egg-timer. I’d say there was a nest under there and the mother bird always sets it so that if she flies off from her eggs to stretch her wings for a bit it will ping to tell her when she’s been away long enough. The ping is at bird frequency, so humans don’t usually hear it. To double-check, I googled ‘Superwell clocks’ (though I had difficulty making out the letter after the ‘R’) and it asked me if I meant ‘Surreal clocks’, so maybe that’s the answer……

  19. In some sense, it doesn’t look out of place. It reminds me of a surrealist painting (in somewhat muted colours) clocks always seem to turn up in weird places. Anyway, being a curious person, I find it a bit unfair: you post the mystery without the solution! Almost like reading a crime novel, where the culprit is never revealed! 😉
