… I just want to choose something upbeat to bring a smile on this slightly murky Wednesday.
Shall I choose this little clump of aconites, found on yesterday’s Virtual Dog Walk …?
… or this cheery little sparrow?

Nice one. I’d go for the bird, anytime.

I know what you mean. But aconites are such plucky little things, battling through the frozen soil to bring us cheer.

Perfect – loving the yellow as feeling very murky down south this morning

That’s what I thought too. Murky here as well, but the birds are in full voice, so that’s good.

Murky here too, basically in low cloud. 😕

Crikey sounds like the whole country has disappeared under murkiness today

I was playing with my new phone. Are aconites a thing in Portugal?

So long as you have carpets of something. That’s the important bit.

Buy one, get one free …..what’s not to like? Two beautiful photos and you got really close so we can see lots of detail and feel the perkiness of both bird and flower. Great!

Good – oh. I’ll reply to your email late. Lots to tell!

Love the aconites. I planted some in the green a few years ago, but they have struggled to take hold. I have two this year. As for sparrows I have dozens on the feeders every day!

I think these are flowers that like to make their own choices. There is a large lawn near us that’s completely covered, and they seem to find nooks and crannies in the woods too.

Lesser Celandines are the ones that are happy under my tree, despite digging loads out last year I have noticed the leaves are appearing once again.

You dug them out? Send them here!

Seriously you wouldn’t want them – they spread like crazy! Though I do like their bright shiny faces at the end of winter.

I’d go for the flowers – we need yellow in our lives right now! I just bought a large bunch of daffodils to brighten our lounge 🙂

I’ve just done the same. Daffodils, primroses, aconites – we need them all!

This time of year, I would have to go with the flowers. Although birds are always a cheerful sight too. 😀
