Shadow puppetry by happenstance? Perhaps I’ve taken leave of my senses, but on a walk the other day, looking at the shadows cast across my path, all I could see in my mind’s eye was that scene in Little Red Riding Hood where she comes upon the wolf in Grandma’s bed. ‘What big ears you have, Grandmama.’
I thought it was Top Topiary anyway, even if no garden shears were involved.
Well spotted, an exact image of a wolf from that story.

I know! It just leapt off the path at me (well, not literally, of course …)

Glad it didn’t, I think you would be losing your senses then!!

Oh, that’s just mean. He’s properly scary, my wolf.

Well, we all do. But that’s not the point. It’s … just not Basil. OK? 😉

I see what you mean. I’ll accept that. But not Basil Brush, as Jo thinks.

Definitely not Basil . . . this one has far too many teeth.

Oh, very good…..I’m glad I’m not the only one who sees things in shadows!!

Of course not! I’m fascinated in what others saw in this image.

Well spotted. Nature must have had her shears out to produce such a realistic image 🙂

I love it. I will definitely walk more wary now, with downcast eyes! I wouldn’t want him or something equally scary jump up at me without warning.

And you’re no safer where you are. Yes, let’s take care….

It does! I was sitting on the garden bench and was convinced I could see The Scream by Munch in one of the trees!

We’re too fertile in the imagination department, that’s our trouble.

oh that’s wonderful – and the plants are racing as fast as they can to outpace Mr Wolf but he’s about to get one and sink his wicked teeth…. can you tell us what all the plants are that are contributing to the story? The one with the serrated edge (looks like a nettle) and the buds with pointy leaves which look like fuchsias but can’t be, and Mr Wolf himself?

I don’t know that I can be exact. It was a path running between the Ure and a barley field. Nettles and grasses is the best I can do. I’ll look closely next time.

I’m actually getting more out of the conversations on this post than the actual post itself, though I concede that it is definitely NOT Basil! 🤣

You’ll probably feel much the same about tomorrow’s post then….
