The end of Week One ….

… and the big question is, will I survive Week Two?  It’s fair to say that I’m tireder than I’ve been in a very long time.  I’m looking after myself, though, taking a good two hours for lunch after morning classes.

The idea is to give me little chance to talk English, so I spend lots of time rehearsing Spanish conversations in my head. They’re brilliant. I astonish myself with my lucid command of the language.  Unfortunately, when the moment comes for me to deliver my deathless prose to a real live Spaniard, those carefully honed phrases quite disappear and I’m stuttering and pointing as usual.

Seriously though, my comprehension has increased hugely, and I can have a reasonable chat with my hostess about my day. I decided to reward myself today with a trip to the beach.

Mindful of this week’s WordPress photo challenge, which I’ll publish my contribution for tomorrow as usual, I shot a couple of experimental photos, by looking at the sea and sand reflected in the plate glass windows of nearby buildings.  Here’s one. And above, another much more usual I-do-like-to-be-beside-the-seaside shot.

  1. Good comprehension means you’re on your way doesn’t it?? Isn’t it listening, speaking, reading then writing for language learning with overlapping of the different skills the more confident and competent you become. Never did understand endless writing of French and German school exercises when we couldn’t even order a cup of coffee! Wishing you a good night’s sleep.

    1. Thank you. I’m on my way, but the next challenge will be to keep it up. Language so quickly acquired won’t be embedded. I slept the sleep of the just and hope you did too.

  3. Again, I’ve lost my comment, there must be lurking another account of mine to which I don’t have access any longer. This is really strange!

Was saying WOAW to this power woman and congratulations to have passed your first week of hard work. Continue with renewed strength and energy next week, it’s so worth it! Having worked for Alliance Française for 8yrs in Devon (not as a teacher mind you, only as left & right hand of the director), I know first hand how draining those crash courses can be. Je tire mon chapeau!

Am delighted that you too ‘see’ those little things. Same as you I have at least on 5 occasions taken photos or ‘mirroring’ of the sea and people walking past a building, but not in Spain, no in LIsbon. Nothing better than sitting comfy with a drink in hand and taking pics of what’s going on around you w/o anybody even knowing what’s happening. We do occasionally think very much alike. (Doesn’t work for hikes and strenous walks, am too lazy for that though, sadly).

Enjoy your weekend. Hard works lures at the end of Sunday 🙂
